While there are a number of differences, the differences are only minor and
I have progressed without too much effort to 8.3.1. Here I get an abend when
I use YaST on the chroot'ed sles11root filesystem to change the source of
the installation on the master image. I followed the instructions in section
7.7.12 Preparing special files in master:
There are some special files in /dev/ directory which are created during
boot process. For this reason they are not available in /sles10master/. This
is a good time to prepare them for future use in chrooted environment.
# chroot /sles10master <- this is sles11master in my case
# mknod -m 644 /dev/random c 1 8
# mknod -m 644 /dev/urandom c 1 9
# mknod /dev/loop0 b 7 0
# exit
These commands will prepare three special device files in /dev directory.
/dev/random and
/dev/urandom are needed for SSH services in a chrooted environment.
/dev/loop is needed for mounting ISO files loopback in section 8.3.1,
"Changing source of installation on master image" on page 133.
I am ssh'ing into the controller server and chroot'ing to /sles11master.
Here are the error message I get in my ssh window:
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'YUIIndexOutOfRangeException'
what():
YaST got signal 6 at YCP file /usr/share/YaST2/clients/menu.ycp:34
/sbin/yast: line 440: 2405 Aborted $ybindir/y2base $module
"$@" "$SELECTED_GUI" $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS
vmsles11:/>
I looks just like that. Any thoughts? YaST works in the normal environment
(not chroot'ed).
