The easy way to access an windowed environment is to install a vnc server. Assuming that your linux-s390 is using ip 10.1.2.3, you could do this: 1 - run vncserver If vncserver isn't installed, you will know, and will have to install it first. If it's installed, it will ask you a password, and say what viewport it will be using. Something like "New 'localhost:3 (root)' desktop is localhost:3"
2 - run vncviewer, and tell it to connect to 10.1.2.3:5903 (the tcp port is 5900 plus the viewport (which is 3, in this sample) 3 - enjoy!
