This is why I asked which release & distro of Linux you're on. We found that for SLES9 we had to stamp the WWPNs in the INITRD. But with SLES10 this was not needed and the LUNs listed in /etc/sysconfig/hardware/zfcp-* happily came up. I don't know if this is a SuSE behaviour or if the change followed developments in s390 space.
