I didn't encounter the same problem as Bob (on the same virtual machine
in the same lpar with the same installation sources).

One thing I did differently is forced a vnc install instead of a ssh X11
forwarding install, but I can't think of anything else.

Assuming we have more time next week, we can try it both ways on another
guest and verify this.

btw - I'm liking redhat 5.4's s390x improvements a lot.  Setting
"dasd=autoprobe" in modules.conf, for instance, has the potential to
save a lot of headache for us.  No more forgetting to zipl when we add
dasd to a guest.  Yay!

Of course, there's always the potential for problems with that should
linux pick up a device it shouldn't write to.  However, we're already
careful to not do that, the only writable devices a linux guest has are
the ones purposed for its own linux filesystems and vdisk swap.
