I didn't encounter the same problem as Bob (on the same virtual machine in the same lpar with the same installation sources). One thing I did differently is forced a vnc install instead of a ssh X11 forwarding install, but I can't think of anything else. Assuming we have more time next week, we can try it both ways on another guest and verify this. btw - I'm liking redhat 5.4's s390x improvements a lot. Setting "dasd=autoprobe" in modules.conf, for instance, has the potential to save a lot of headache for us. No more forgetting to zipl when we add dasd to a guest. Yay! Of course, there's always the potential for problems with that should linux pick up a device it shouldn't write to. However, we're already careful to not do that, the only writable devices a linux guest has are the ones purposed for its own linux filesystems and vdisk swap. Hey redhat folks? Thanks! My kudos to the redhat s390x distro developers! - -- Pat -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (Darwin) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAkstwbQACgkQNObCqA8uBsynbwCfcmyHabrB8mrG3fzPAjBL12ZK fE4AmwZP5Ff7vGmiTJgKC+wacRzZ9LoD =Sfqq -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
