KVM for the s390x architecture is still in an experimental state as far as I know and the KVM offering in RHEL 5.4 refers only to x86_64 (see http://www.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/5.4/html/Release_Notes/). But yes, it would be interesting to see how KVM performs on s390x.
