I fear that while you're right, in the end it may not make a large
difference.  Specifically, in our world, free or low up front cost often
seems to trump most other considerations, including TCO over expected
system lifetime.

As a result, I kind of expect to see linux/KVM hypervisor installations
on Z spreading in a few years.  At least, if the idea of Z series
virtualization doesn't get prematurely killed by commodity intel
hardware virtualization first. :-(
