Though I agree with you, the fact remains that IBM does not allow this and it 
is illegal (at least in most countries, I guess). I wish it weren't! I'd glory 
in a z/VM and z/OS under Hercules at home for myself. But that doesn't make it 
legal or moral to tell the copyright holder that they are being short sighted 
and so their copyright rights are going to be ignored. 

It is also why I am now a confirmed Linux bigot and do all my "hacking" using 
Linux/Intel. It is legal and moral, and even encouraged! If IBM choses to 
destroy their z/OS & z/VM business by being (IMO) foolish, well it is their 
right. I don't like it because it pays my salary. But if somebody is determined 
to pump bullets into their own, perfectly maintained, car - that is their right 
of ownership.
