It did not contain an LLADDR definition. And I'm up via a Layer 3 VSWITCH, which suits me fine (less tweaking of Linux).

Chuck, does your ifcfg-eth file for the VSWITCH NIC contain an LLADDR-definition? If yes, please remove it. VSWITCH NICs should always use the zVM-chosen MAC-address, which may change after LOGOFF/LOGON. Bugzilla 658708 is open to address this issue.
