I run recently a POC using a z10 (96GB), 3 IFL´s dedicated, z/vm 5.4, Red Hat 5.2 and Oracle 10g. Lpar was defined with 32GB memory and 8GB expanded, Linux machine was 32GB size, I need to define 06 3390-3 like as paging devices. POC run with 3 scenarios:
1st - 100 Oracle tasks running.
2nd - 250 Oracle tasks running.
3nd - 500 Oracle tasks running.

IFL use got about 90% and +10k I/Os/sec (4 x 2GBps DS8100 Ficon).

You can check: http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg247932.html?Open since I followed http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg247492.html?Open and all goes fine.

Have fun!!!!

We¹re in the process of doing an Oracle 11g install for proof of concept,
and we¹ve run into the 4gig memory issue. We gave the machine 4g of memory,
but it came up with an actual value of 3.9255gig and failed. Why is 4gig not
4gig? And, how much memory actually has to be allocated to install? Does
that amount really have to be left in the image moving forward? How are
other sites configuring Oracle on zLinux?
