You can get away with 2GB or so - less than that will certainly incur a lot of swapping. Just make sure all the other prereqs are there and then use the -ignoreSysprereqs flag on the installer - the amount you actually need depends on the features you install. Moving forward, it's what you need at runtime, pretty much the same calculation you had before (SGA, PGA, Oracle kernel, Linux kernel, etc).
