Lu,

An MCF is an acronym for "Microcode Fix". Sometimes multiple MCFs are
grouped together into a microcode level (MCL). It's just packaging jargon
for System z firmware. Typically, you work with your IBM CE or some other
support person.

There really isn't enough information to determine where the problem is.
Personally, I would need to see hardware logs as a part of some field
problem to determine that. The only thing I really know is that the
channel firmware is flagging some error in the qdio code. It might be a
linux problem, a VM problem, a millicode problem, or a channel problem. I
just don't know from the limited amount of data.

I and the rest of the list can only brainstorm some potential action
items. Some of them you can investigate yourself, like maybe using fewer
subchannels changes timing enough to work around the problem until the
real problem is figured out. Others, involve getting expert help, like
applying the latest firmware by engaging your support provider. Maybe
some Linux, or VM person will comment tomorrow and provide additional
insight from their point of view.
