The first thing I would note is that I doubt Redis is supported by either Red Hat or SUSE. If your management is concerned about the entire software selection being supported, then that could kill your co-worker's plan right there, if the requirement is to keep the same software components. Picking the right tool for the right job is more complex than most people care to think about. While it's true that _something_ could be put together to provide the same general service using fully supported hardware and software, that's not necessarily sufficient information.
