Open-source software is generally the most secure software of all. You have the source code! Examine the source code yourself, security officer! See if there are any security vulnerabilities in it! With proprietary, closed-source software, who knows what security vulnerabilities may be present that the vendor won't tell you about to protect his revenue stream.
