not having the source archive available makes it impossible to adapt
the packaging to distribution standards (eg. remove the need to run the
setgroupown script) and thus blocks direct inclusion in distros. Which
opens one more question - what architecture is required for the
"server" rpm, is it s390x only or can it be installed on eg. x86_64
host?

May be also the chicken & egg situation, no repo, no contribution and
vice versa. And no problem with subversion, it can be easily converted
to git locally :-)
