Mike,

Let me take a look at your cook book, and the other book you referenced.

No, I did not turn up the debug messages. I don't need more. I seem to
remember a log file filling up a disk once, and that caused a whole separate
set of messages and issues. And so far, I haven't been able to find the samba
log files. I know they're there, I'm just not looking in the right place.

This has got to be a Monday after a 10-hour Saturday...

Dave,

There is a very short writeup in The Virtualization Cookbook. The latest
is at: http://www.vm.ibm.com/devpages/mikemac/CKB-VM62.PDF

(sorry the first draft of the new one is taking longer than hoped - hit a
snag)

For debugging, what do you see in the Samba log files. (just did a quick
google and found http://oreilly.com/openbook/samba/book/ch09_01.html )

Did you turn up the debug level and try for more/better messages (you'll
definitely get more, not necessarily better :))?

Hope this helps.
