I have an issue on multiple guests when performing a standalone dump. On
one guest with 512M RAM the following works fine. The dump quickly writes
to the linked pack and all is well. This system was up and running fine
when I did this so not necessarily real world.

CP CPU ALL STOP

CP STORE STATUS

CP IPL DDDD

But on a linux server with 8G of RAM that was hanging, I ran the same
commands as above and nothing outputs to the console for a long time and
then finally I see it dumping. But the dump size is 108G. From all the IBM
documentation I've read, the dasd device should be sized to size of RAM +
10MB. The size here doesn't make sense. I've tried this on two separate
guests with 8G RAM.

Can anyone explain what's going on?

Thanks,

-Rich
