Hello list,
I got RHEL 7 installed.
I believe this was discussed last month, but please allow me to clarify. In
section 15.11.1.1, the RHEL 7 installation instructions for System z (that
Felipe pointed us to) state:
Any DASDs used for installation must be formatted on a low level. When you
select DASDs in the Installation Destination screen and click Done, the
installation program detects any unformatted disks and the following dialog
appears:
I get to the "Installation Destination" screen and see:
DASD device 0.0.0100
dasda / 0 B free
I select the device and click "Done" but do not get the "following dialog"
shown in the online instructions. So I can't create any partitions. I start
another SSH session as root and dasdfmt my one minidisk:
# *lsdasd*
Bus-ID Status Name Device Type BlkSz Size Blocks
==============================================================================
0.0.0100 n/f dasda 94:0 ECKD
# *dasdfmt -b 4096 -y -f /dev/dasda*
Finished formatting the device.
Rereading the partition table... ok
It would seem this is the same behavior (coughBUGcough:)) as the RHEL 6
installer (sigh ...). I guess the good news is that you can then go back
to the installer after the dasdfmt and it finds the free disk space.
Also it seems there are not thousands of messages sent to the console so
you don't need to set CP TERM MORE 0 0 - and I see "BTRFS" and "LVM thin
provisioning" as options - will need to try these out - so there are some
definite positives.
