First thing is does your DASD subsystem support HyperPAV? You will not get
very far if the DASD subsystem does not have that feature defined. Second the
IOGEN must be setup to allow for BASE and ALIAS devices. After all of that is
in place you can then worry about the z/VM and zLinux definitions.

Thanks..

Subject: hyperpav setup

We've been trying to understand how to enable/configure hyperpav on our linux
guests. Our minidisks are "regular" minidisks:
vmcp q mdisk 0500 details
TargetID Tdev OwnerID Odev Minidisk DEVNO Duplex
AA0000 0500 AA0000 0500 Regular No No

vmcp q mdisk 0501 details
TargetID Tdev OwnerID Odev Minidisk DEVNO Duplex
AA0001 0501 AA0000 0501 Regular No No
Can hyperpav be utilized if our minidisks are regular?
If not, does anyone have experience on how we can instruct our z/vm team to
move to a supported configuration?
Thanks,
