I have checked my /lib in a SLES11 SP3 and it's some 70M. Your free size in / (some 100M) might be tight, depending on what SLES12 would need in there. Also I checked the content and I expect that will be required during boot so then it's not an option to move it to its own minidisks.
One other thing though. I know some installer processes can't handle separate minidisks during install. They only check the size of / and disregard the fact that some directories might be on separate volumes. Usually that error is due to the size required for /usr. Cleaning the /lib/modules depends on what is in there. Indeed when old kernel files are present in /lib/modules and /boot then they might be removed but you need to be careful that they are indeed obsolete. Do you all think giving /lib its own filesystem would be a good idea? Forgot to mention. I'm testing an upgrade to SLES 12 and I received an error about the / filling up.
