I work for an outsourcer, Ensono, and we have a several CEC's, two of them have GP and IFL engines. One is a LAB (test) box with several lpars: 1 running z/OS on a GP engine, and 2 more running z/VM on IFL's. The other is a production box with 3 lpars running z/OS and 1 with 6 IFL's running z/VM and roughly 25 Linux on System z servers. We don't have any IFL-only CEC's.
