Haven’t done it myself, so just speculating, but: Do you have a tape manager, like VM:Tape? Standalone it’s pretty grim, but it might work better if you were able to manage it via that route. The CA folks are used to weird tape configurations, and since they go through the DFSMSrmm interface to get media moved, it would seem that it would work in that you could get the device working via RMM as a different library name and then go through the process in the VM:Tape guide for mass moves to different type of media.
It’s more of a PITA for unlabeled tapes, but you’d have to do those by hand anyway.
