The process I would use would be as follows:

1) shutdown vm
2) take a safety backup from z/os of static six vm volumes.
3) ipl vm 
4) run saipl to change the PDVOL to new address.
5) shutdown vm
6) take a backup from z/os of static changed vm volumes.
7) CLIP old volumes to different names.
8) restore backup to new dasd addresses.
9) IPL vm from new ipl address.

If there is a problem:

10) restore safety backup to original dasd addresses
11) CLIP volumes on new address to different names
12) ipl VM

Ah  - I see you meant for this to be run against new DASD -- assuming the
copy had been done...   I wasn't sure how/when the DASD would be copied to
the old...    so it does depend...   the script should be run before or
after depending on the method ;-)
