Yes, it is.  You cannot have long-distance connections in an SSI cluster 
because of the shared DASD.

And I agree that a replacement is needed for the CTCs.  Now that we have 
the IVL (Inter-VSWITCH Link) capability that allows CP instances to 
participate in a multicast group, the goal is feasible.  But it remains a 
metro solution.
