I have approached the vendor, since he provided utilities for both z/VSE (VSEn) and z/VM for tape mounting, but he claims no one ever asked for this for zLinux. I was hoping someone else in the world needed to do this and had found a way. You may be able to use your tape management UI to manually load the (virtual) stacker with the tape you want. "mt load" would then load the next tape in the stacker.
