ELKS and networking.

Hello folks,

I am very new and green about ELKS, because just learned about it 
yesterday. 
Is it possible to convert an old 286 computer to a networking workstation 
with ELKS, so that I can connect to a LINUX computer with kernel 2.2 
running?
