Well, its really a question on several things.. One. ELKS is designed for machines
that typically have only mono or CGA graphics, so remotely operating a GUI is out of
the question. Also, bandwidth is a question-- I've been running VNC here at work
for a few weeks, and even with the 8-bit palette restriction, running it over 10BT
is almost painful.
The minimum requirements that I would have to press for VNC'ing an X system would be
a well performing NE2000 compatible, mouse and at least MGA graphics, or some clever
code to crop it down to 4bpp for EGA. The counterpart is to run the remote X Server
with a Mono VGA driver. We'd probably also need something resembling SVGALib on
ELKS to draw it.
