Linux can do this because it makes the assuption that it is being installed
on "standard" target hardware - a 386 or better PC.
ELKS does not really have a single target platform although I guess some
would like there to be a small set perhaps including XT type PCs
There are a number of embedded and palmtop targets being worked on, none
of which are standard.
Perhaps the way forward is to target an XT, Alistair?
