I have the impression that the BP6 crashes depend in an odd way on the
"load". In such a way that "full load" doesn't always crash the machine.

So, if your friend uses his as a "web/news/whatever" server, I don't
really find it odd that it doesn't crash. 

If you use your system for interactive work, compile jobs etcetc, but
don't run an X server, I also don't find it odd that YOU don't get any
crashes. The common fator seems to be "x server running and either a
screen saver or seti@home" running.
