Right. And that depends on what you're trying to do. For example, on a
kernel compile, I get a performance level of about 170% of a single
processor. That means 30% memory contention.
And we know that SetiAtHome is a memory hog. My colleage takes
pleasure in running it, and thinks that it's acceptable to dedicate a
quarter of his RAM to that stuff. (You know, RAM, that
more-expensive-than-gold stuff that you put into the PC?)
