Abit seems to regret the QQ BIOS, at least the final version.
Lots of people have posted about high loads on MS-Windows2000.
It's an odd thing, to be sure.  

My guess is it's associated with System Management Mode.   A 
single `rep movsd` instruction with  ECX=0 will take a _long_ 
time to execute, especially since it will generate lots of 
pagefaults.  The half-hour processor hang corresponds to 
210 cycles per `movsd`, in the ballpark for a "absent" pagefault.

In any case, here is Abit's posting, and advice to stick with 
the QQ _beta_ BIOS until the RU version is released:
