Today at around 11:50am EST my server which is co-located in California
pretty much cut me off.
No passwords would be accepted though telnet, ftp, ssh/ssh2 both failed. My
only savior was webmin. It took me 5 hours of trying to track down the
problem with no shell (very frustrating) and eventually I had to reboot it.
I finally just got back in and started browsing the logs. Oh man. The
kernel hit HARD. The wierd thing was that the only problem was that I
couldn't login to get a console. I could check my mail (POP), browse the
website, use webmin, etc. I was super frustrated.
I got about 300KB worth of these kernel errors. Here's the output from the
first one: (the others are mostly sshd2(us trying to get in), and crond.
Kernel 2.2.14 SMP [I tried to compile 2.2.15. It locked the box up. =( ]
--------------------------------
You did not tell me where to find symbol information. I will assume
that the log matches the kernel and modules that are running right now
and I'll use the default options above for symbol resolution.
If the current kernel and/or modules do not match the log, you can get
more accurate output by telling me the kernel version and where to find
map, modules, ksyms etc. ksymoops -h explains the options.
No modules in ksyms, skipping objects
Warning, no symbols in lsmod, is /proc/modules a valid lsmod file?

Anyone know what this means?
I'm not familiar with ksymoops, so any suggestions or help would be much
appreciated.
This box was previously up for 6 days with light load until this occurance.
