I purchased two MSI 694D motherboards to replace my BP6s and I've finally
gotten one to boot to linix. A Few things...
1) The ATA-100 controller appears to be incompatible with the Promise
drivers in 2.2.17 and 2.4.0test7. When it gets to the point of probing
promise, it freezes.
2) Far more importantly, I was unable to get two celeron processors to
detect. It detects one just fine, but the second is ignored both by boot
and by linux (I booted with a SMP kernel and it froze, had to have a
non-SMP one).
According to the manual, you are supposed to have some kind of a CPU
terminator if you don't have a second proc, and the mobo didn't come with
one so I don't know if running with a non-compliant CPU is causing
problems.
-----
All in all, while I like the mobo, it was pretty much a waste since I
can't use my two processors. I could have gotten a single-celeron mobo
for $60 or less and then EBayed the spare procs at that point.
*sigh*
