Obviously you've never discussed the Japanese obsession with rape, bondage,
pedophilia and bestiality (or should we head straight for the incest rates?),
or the pervasiveness of authoritarianism in the culture. Hmmm, you think
there's a reason your expatriate friend left the homeland?

Do you seriously suggest that a government obsequious to foreign psychopaths
is going to discourage local psychopaths?

Is that what you call confusing "most" members of a group with "all"
members of a group?

So did the Greeks. At least, to themselves.

I don't; I just didn't think to use it in this context. I don't think
that calling it 'internal' or 'external' consistency is a sufficiently
clear concept to make it the optimal response.
Thanks for your time. Hope it helps.

Have fun. I don't care what you do on your private news server. You
don't seem to be aware of the concept of replication as it regards
Usenet. Nobody cares about your 'right' to delete posts on your server;
merely whether they want a down-stream feed from such an 'edited' forum.
You don't seem to want to regard the concept of a *public* forum, but
want to take advantage of a *public* system for replicating messages in
order to make your silly opinions known. Make up your mind. Or just
shut up and go away; a far more effective solution than setting up a
news server just so you can delete my posts. <G>

Authoritarianism, I have plenty nearby without heading for the antipodes.
Pedophilia, it seems to be quite widespread in the US itself. Bestiality even
more so. As for incest, I have no idea. In any case, matters of quantity, not
quality.

You do realize that by so editing a newsgroup, you take on the role, and
thus the legal responsibility and liability of a newspaper owner, don't
you? Sure, you have a right to deny anyone the ability to have
something printed in your forum; you also take on the responsibility for
libel and slander of anyone else who you do allow to post.

I'll break my self-enforced silence this once.
Dresden, you are exactly the type of person I was talking
about. You are the biggest RAH RAH Microsoft cheerleader
I have ever heard. You absolutely will never admit to
there being any fault with any MS product ever. You
accuse anyone that says anything positive about any
competing operating system as being full of shit, and you
basically demonstrate nothing but stupidity and an
absolute lack of perspective in any post you put out.
Especially in your tirade in the thread about Nvidia
drivers. I know of a lot of people on both OSes that have
problem with the NVIDIA drivers, why are you the only
person that hasn't heard these complaints. I can't even
use the 'official' NVIDIA driver under Linux because it's
'kernel-space enhancements' lock up X constantly (although
why it doesn't cause a kernel dump I don't know). I won't
lie and say I have any experience with NT or 9x with this
card, but people that have 'actual' experience say they
see some of the same sort of behavior under Windows. So
why are you so fucking ignorant of all the complaints?
It's even been reported in Maximum PC and some of what I'm
sure are your favorite magazines, the Ziff-Davis Microsoft
cheerleaders.
Oh, and your little joke about MS W2K datacenter being a
'heavy-iron' OS that is completely viable (and as far as I
know it isn't even available yet) is just icing on the
cake. Fucking morons like you amaze me. How your brain
manages to keep enough cells alive to keep you breathing
is just amazing.

LITTLE TROLLISH RIGHT NOW MYSELF!)

You again are confusing ethics with ability. That someone has the
ability to post slander anonymously does not give you the ethical right
to suspend his anonymity, nor does it support your claim that no
slander, but merely baseless insult, was presented. I thought I clearly
pointed out in my original response that if you assume your right to
free speech automatically transcends someone else's right to privacy,
you are making an assumption which neither the law nor consideration of
ethics will support you on.

You confuse the issue. There is, obviously, a large gray area between
being an asshole and acting illegally. I wouldn't be proud of being
anywhere in the range, and it doesn't support your position to be
willing to quibble about the difference.
>So what is the core argument "Your actions aren't nice" or "Your actions

Your actions were on far more tenuous legal grounds than the 'anonymous
troll' was. IOW, Both.

I will stop fanning the flames when they go out. Whether its because
the force of my argument snuffs them, or they've consumed all the fuel
available, I have no preference, as I have lots of patience and am quite
sure of my position. And if I'm not, only continued argument can allow
me to recognize that, so I have no reason not to continue.
>Go to deja and look up a thread on clja entitled "Why JTK has a right to

>
>If you won't do that, please just kindly bug off.
I read the message stating your position which that thread supposedly
culminated in. My discussion, however, is limited to the current
discussion, where no claims to a 'right to anonymity' have been made;
only a right to privacy which provides the ability to post anonymously,
and cannot legally be contradicted by some other private citizen,
regardless of whether he likes or agrees with what someone has posted.
Again, I'll point out that your responses, when faced with an obnoxious
lying anonymous troll, are a) respond by posting discussion on Usenet,
or b) not responding. Breaking their anonymity undermines your own
right to free speech much more than it supports your own right to avoid
slander (as if anyone is going to take an anonymous troll seriously when
they call you a racist.) In the end, it all comes down to the fact that
JTK was acting unethically, and you responded, not with ethical actions,
but with unethical actions, and you expect to escape responsibility for
your actions by referring to the fact that his actions were unethical to
begin with. Unfortunately (for your position) ethics don't work that
way.

Sorry. Hair and age are right on, but other than that it's a sausage
party.
By the way, have you worked with gtkhtml? I checked it out on freshmeat
and saw that it was at 0.6.1 , and there were only about 1200 hits on
it. Just wondering if it was worth the effort or no. Nothing in the way
of online documentation came up anywhere I looked.

This reminds me of a "Gift" I gave to a friend who has frequent Windows

Well, I don't feel superior to much of anyone because I work with Unix. This
assumes, of course, that there are only a few people who have difficulties
exceeding the "Pull here to open" test like our friend, Fecking. Just
remember, if there were no Unix, Usenet would be pretty empty.
And there are some days when >I'M< not overly fond of Unix, either.

Nope. Only the original KDE version. If they didn't break it too much, it's a
fairly good HTML 3.2 widget. Frames, forms, tables should work OK. If you want
to check its capabilities, try using KFM from KDE 1.1.2 to browse the web a bit.
