Because I'm not interested enough in obtaining 'fixes' and 'upgrades' from
MS to stay on top of all this shit? I'm not a sysadmin anymore, I'm not
going to spend my time reading security alerts and the like all the time.
What I will do is read a posted article and offer my opinion to the
newsgroup.

So no, I don't see what you're complaining about. If you're complaining
that
we only bitch when you post something, stop posting links and see if the
bitching
dies away. I believe you'll find it wont stop, because the products are
still
primarily shite, and the company is still evil. The bitching is just a
symptom.

Posting more links to show that Windows xx is shite for whatever latest
reason
I'll continue to leave up to other people, and have a giggle to myself when
I
read them.

But perhaps I've missed the point... what is it you're complaining about?

Wow thats actually pretty cool :) Didn't know that. Don't you
think they did that is response to Linux?

The 2.4 kernal has several features that are of interest to mid and
high end users. Does that license free version of Solaris include
all the features that the pay versions have?
You may very well be right but I think that you would agree that
people should at least look into linux. For example, isn't it
possible that you could at least buy the linux hardware cheaper?

>BTW, I consider 3 CPUs per retail outlet to be vast overkill!

That was an example of an actual chain-- Radio Shack. I used to
work there when I was in college. I think you'll find that must
cash registers used in large stores are actually PCs of some kind.
Some may be thin client.

No, that was pretty close.

Ahh, back to the real issue. Why should it be up to me to give
anyone that right when the library isn't mine? Why shouldn't that be
left up to the owner of the library and the end user to determine?

Pay attention here. No one else is performing his act. Someone is letting
him perform his own act.

Well, then try to understand it first. The juggler is another library. You
have the right to have/use that library whether purchased or free. You
don't duplicate what that library does, you hand over control to it and
let it do the function itself. If you have a dozen different libraries,
each
obtained under their own terms you can use them all together. And as far
as can tell, only the GPL is so restrictive as to claim ownership and
control
of the code linking to it.

It may or may not be true I don't know. IBM makes big money on
multi CPU servers so I wouldn't take that at face value.

To be fair I used an IBM mid-range (2-4 CPU F40) and it was great.
It had some features that Linux doesn't have and the thing didn't
crash once that I remember. Their administration tool, smit, was
ten times better than anything available for Linux. We also had a
great emergency replacement policy from them. Of course it cost
about $10,000.... :)

I have a similar philosophy, except for the last part: if someone sends
me a Word document, I *KNOW* it isn't important, so I delete it. If it
was important, the sender would've used a format that anyone can read.
Ditto, to a degree, with HTML email.

Hey, it's Chad Myers again. The guy who claims linux advocates who
bash Windows have never used Win NT/2K. OK Myers, when was the
last time you actually used X on a Linux system? I've never
had X crash my Linux system. I have experiences BSODs on my Win NT
and 2K boxes though.

Cricket is not gay, NOW Gridiron, that is really gay, wtf is it with pads and shit? and
a 15'er after each tackle for christs. I've seen more action from a Microsoft
programmer than what happens on the field in a game of Gridiron.

Strange, isn't it, that a software engineer working for Microsoft should use
