This is also a good reason why Sun has a dual license. Sun can attempt to
enforce its licensing terms without having to get the agreement of all the
numerous authors that have contributed to OpenOffice.

Note for any newbie: We are chatting about intellectual property (copyright)
protection. Enforcement of the GPL depends upon copyright protection. New

The only difference where you live might make is what the ratio

IIRC it varies between 2 and 20 times. i.e. there is

My Linux box takes 3 minutes to reboot, and easily stays up for 120 days.
0.1 / 3 / 4 = 0.0083% downtime ==> 99.99a7% uptimem, or roughly 99.992% uptime.

You've gotta love the crap you read in here, how we're all supposed to
be "Linux geeks". You hear that repeated many times in here by the
Wintrolls. In fact, the Wintrolls are the ones who are geeks. Did you
ever see how geeky Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer are? Damn, but if those
two aren't the biggest geeks I've ever seen! Linus Torvalds is much
cooler by comparison.
Windows lovers are the ones who are geeks. For some reason, I feel a
lot more geeky when I'm running Windows. I just can't put my finger on
it. Linux users are really cool, because when a problem arises, they
very calmly know how to fix the problem.
WinTrolls are so obsessed with Windows' ease of use and excessive
automation of things, you know they have to be geeks. Then you've got
all these Borland C++ and Developer Studio geeks who love to sit their
little pimple-faced butts in front of their slick little
multiple-document viewing IDEs, and spout off about how makefiles suck
compared to their IDE's with project file formats.
I've found that Windows users are very geeky, because Windows is such a
cliche`, and Linux is this cool new OS. Also, you have all these
file-format geeks who love discussing about how Word format compares to
Word Perfect. With unix, everything is more universal.
Windows tries to constrain you into doing everything the way IT wants
you to instead of the way YOU want to do it. With unix I have much more
freedom to roam intellectually. If being forced to do something the way
Bill Gates wants me to do it isn't being geeky, I don't know what is.
Also, you have to be a geek to understand how Win32 works. It's always
amusing hearing about how Win32 is an event-driven windowing system, and
all about this GetDC(), BeginPaint(), and EndPaint() stuff, and how
you're supposed to declare your WindowProc() call when you create your
window class.
WinTrolls are geeks because they believe in heing a slave to some geeky
GUI. They also probably think it would be cool to have some thingie
attached to your head so that our machines can be controlled by our
brain waves! Or, how about this: Why doesn't MS invent some kind of
geeky contraption controlled by brain waves that sits on our heads that
makes all our computing tasks easier? Or, (oh joy), how about building
some sort of functionality into this headset that detects our love and
hate of MS products - that way you can get a special discount on
easy-to-use MS software based on how you feel about Windows 3000, or
whatever it is.
Geeky, geeky, geeky. MS geeks love sitting in front of their boxes
obsessing about how it's great that they have to fire up a Windows GUI
program to change all occurences of one or two phrases instead of using
the more efficient way of using sed -e. Hey, check it out, Waldo!
Here, I select "find and replace", and see how neat it is that I select
all these dorky radio controls for "case insensitive" and "match entire
phrase"! Hee hee! Isn't that neat? Dammit, dialog boxes are so neat!
Dialog box geek!
Hey, I'm tired of being called a geek, dork, and nerd because I don't
obsess over some poor-performing, "easy to use" entirely GUI driven
operating system run by 2 geeks (Ballmer and Gates). It's time to
strike back! WinTrolls will henceforth be known as "Dialog Box Geeks".
