I can attest to Compaq CustomSolutions being a "Linux-friendly"
vendor. CS bid (and won, I think) the 1,200 node Stanford cluster, and
my company is considering CS as a sub-contractor on a large cluster we
are currently bidding. I'm sure there's a minimum size before they'd
be interested, but they're worth checking out.
