=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Emmanuel and I are pleased to announce the release of GtkAda-0.5. This
is still called a beta version, although we consider it really stable
now.
We are actually waiting for gtk1.2 to call GtkAda a stable version.
GtkAda 0.5 release (Beta code)
- ------------------------------
GtkAda is an Ada95 binding of Gtk+ version 1.1.14. It allows you to
develop graphical applications in Ada95 using Gtk+.
Currently, all widgets of the Gtk+ 1.1 series have been bound. The
binding for the Gdk part is not complete yet, but is already pretty
much in place.
To test our binding, the testgtk program have been almost completely
re-implemented and is also distributed with the binding.

Subject: Xarm-1.3.0 - C++ wrapper of Motif and friends
Date: Fri, 5 Feb 1999 20:11:35 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Xarm-1.3.0 has been released.
The Xarm library is a C++ wrapper of the Motif, Xmext and Xbae
widget libraries.
It supports Motif 1.2, 2.0, LessTiff and CDE.
Key features of Xarm include:
* An inheritance hierarchy that follows the Motif widget
hierarchy.
* A unique callback interface that allows regular C++
member functions to be used as callbacks.
* A C++ interface to the Xt Arg system that frees the
programmer from bugs where XtSetArg(args[17], ...)
is called on an arg array 16 elements long. XarmArg's
are stored in an STL vector for automatic sizing.
* Support for the Xbae Matrix and Caption widgets on systems
where libXbae is installed. The Xbae library is also
available from the Xarm Home Page.
* Several useful widgets in the included Xmext library including
Tab, Dial, Gauge (progress bar), and a Password Field
widget.
* Built-in support for Xpm files. Xpm files may be used
as Pixmap resources in app-defaults files!
* Automatic handling of the conversion to/from XmString's
from regular C/C++ char *'s.
* Tried and tested in free, Commercial and Government software
systems.
The Xarm Home Page is at: http://www.shinbiro.com/~glgay/
The library has also been uploaded to
ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/incoming/Linux/
and should end up in ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/libs/X/c++libs/
It should also eventually work it's way into
ftp://ftp.x.org/contrib/libraries/

Subject: Ext2fs-Undeletion mini-HOWTO update / e2recover 1.0 -- tools for undeleting
files
Date: Fri, 5 Feb 1999 20:08:03 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Manchester, England --- 2 February 1999
Aaron Crane <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Today I have released an update to my Ext2fs-Undeletion mini-HOWTO,
published under the auspices of the Linux Documentation Project (LDP).
The updated version is numbered 1.3, and covers the latest 2.2.1 Linux
kernel. It is currently available on my website in several formats:
<URL:http://pobox.com/~aaronc/tech/e2-undel/>
It will soon be available from the LDP archives:
<URL:http://metalab.unc.edu/LDP/>
and all mirrors of that site.
I have also released e2recover, a suite of tools for assisting in file
undeletion from ext2 file systems. This is release 1.0 and is the first
public release of e2recover. The suite includes and obsoletes the older
fsgrab program by the same author. e2recover is available on my website:
<URL:http://pobox.com/~aaronc/tech/e2-undel/>
and will soon make its way out of Incoming on Metalab (formerly known as
Sunsite) and its mirrors:
<URL:http://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/utils/file/>
The LSM entry for e2recover is as follows:
Begin3
Title: e2recover
Version: 1.0
Entered-date: 1999-02-02
Description: Tools to assist in recovering deleted files from ext2
file systems. Includes fsgrab (which simply copies data
from a specified position in a file or device) and e2recover,
a Perl script which calls both fsgrab and debugfs (from the
e2fsprogs) to automate file recovery.
.
fsgrab was originally part of the same author's fsgrab
package, which is no longer maintained.
.
See also the Linux Ext2fs-Undeletion mini-HOWTO which can be
found on <URL:http://pobox.com/~aaronc/tech/e2-undel/> or on
any Linux Documentation Project mirror.

one of the following: Linux; FreeBSD; or the e2fsprogs
libraries (with their include files).

This LUG (dedicated to making Linux and other OSS ubiquitous) meets on
the second Saturday of each month from 10:00AM to 2:30PM in the Matsui
Conference Room on the lower floor of the El Segundo Public Library.
The library is located across the street from the local high school, at
the NW corner of the intersection of Main Street and Mariposa in the
City of El Segundo.
El Segundo Public Library
111 W Mariposa Ave.
El Segundo, CA

The group sessions include ongoing installation and trouble shooting
areas including deployment of a local LAN. (10/100 BaseT). Please bring
any of your equipment including PC's that you want converted over to
Linux/OSS. We have only one digital projector so please bring an extra
monitor if you can (there is ample room with nice large tables).
Also bring along some power cord extensions and power strips as these
are usually in short supply, as well as any CD distributions that you
are working with.
Ethernet cards are good things to bring along. Usually I give away 16bit
[SMC(wd)/NE2000/Intel etc..] NICs that I buy from the TRW monthly fair
but pickings were slim this past week! Any donatations of cards this
month would be appreciated. I'll make you a patch cable if you need one.
Topics for the next meeting include
1. Brief demo of RCS. This would only cover very basic use.
2. Demo of the "UNIX philosophy": Small programs that can be put
together to make bigger ones. Basic use of pipes, redirection, and shell
scripting.
We look forward to meeting you there. If you have any questions please
send me some mail. We should have our www site soon. There is a mail
list that you can join if you like.
best regards,
Ismet

Subject: kbd-0.97 released - Linux keyboard/console utilities
Date: Fri, 5 Feb 1999 19:28:00 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
I just made a kbd-0.97.tar.gz and put it in
ftp.win.tue.nl/pub/linux/utils/kbd and on
sunsite and ftp.kernel.org.
(tsx-11 had a full disk, I believe)
This release has been overdue for a long time, but always
other things were more urgent. I did not quite finish
what I intended to do, but at least this is a better point
of departure for anyone wishing to contribute improvements.
Since open means many things, and everybody agrees that
the vt opening program should be called openvt instead of
open, I took this opportunity to include the stuff from
open-1.4.tar.gz. A few minor flaws flaws were fixed in open
and it was renamed openvt (like chvt and deallocvt).
The utility switchto was removed since it is completely
identical to chvt.
Following others, I now use .psfu for a psf font file with
included Unicode map, and .psf for such a file without one.
Some other fontnames lost the .psf suffix since they in fact
were not psf fonts.
A tiny configure was added for people who like stuff in
/usr/share/kbd or so, instead of /usr/lib/kbd.
Some fonts were corrected since they had wrong symbols.
Euro support was added. Hex Unicode support was corrected.
Support for compressed fonts was improved.
Support for 512-byte fonts was improved.
Support for the KDFONTOP ioctl was added.
Etc.
