=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

The latest public release of SMSLink (version 0.34b) has just been
uploaded to MetaLab and www.styx.demon.co.uk. It is published under the
GNU GPL.

This program implements a client/server gateway to the SMS protocol (short
messages sent to GSM / mobile phones). The server process listens on a
specific TCP port, and forks a child for each incoming connection. Those
child processes are responsible for getting the message parameters from
the clients, and will then compete through a mechanism of semaphores and
shared memory segments to get exclusive access to the sending hardware : a
serially attached GSM module.

This new version implements a full-fledged access control list mechanism
and a new Solaris port of the client. See the Home Page or the CHANGELOG
file for more details.

Home page : <http://www.styx.demon.co.uk/smslink>.

Thanks,

Ph. A.

PPDD has a new home.

Thanks to Eberhard Moenkeberg and die Gesellschaft fuer
wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH in Goettingen, Germany, for
making the space available.

PPDD is an encrypted device driver for Linux. It creates a device which
looks like a disc partition on which you can then create an ext2
filesystem. The underlying data storage can be a file on a normal
filesystem or a complete disc partition. All data written to this file
or partition is encrypted using the blowfish algorithm.

Special emphasis in the design has been placed on the fact that data on
disc has a long lifetime and that encrypted backups may fall into the
wrong hands. The use of master/working pass phrases and the ability to
enter very long pass phrases on two lines add to the security.

The driver concept also allows the root filesystem and the swap device
to be encrypted. In effect this means that with the exception of a
kernel and a small initial read-only ram-disc image, everything on disc
is encrypted.

The latest revision is 0.7 and supports the late 2.0 series and the
early 2.2 series of Linux kernels. So far only the Intel-86 architecture
is supported.
