In my mirror.default file, there are the following lines:

        # Don't mirror file modes.  Set all dirs/files to these
        dir_mode=0755
        file_mode=0444

which explicitly restrict the mirroring of file and dir modes, I would say that
you probably have similar directives in your configuration.  The absence of
these lines should indeed mirror the modes as well.
