I've recently purchased a new machine for home (pentium II BX) and copied
my entire system from work (via burnt CD) to it.I'm having troubles when I start X
through Xdm.

1. Fvwm95 is unable to start certain applications particularly TkDesk, Gimp and
Ghostview. Yet if I start an xterm I can run the programs through that.

2. When I run Ghostview SOMETIMES I am unable to get any of the widgets to
respond to the mouse. Files are loaded and displayed OK and keyboard operators
work.

These problems seem to go away when I run X from the console.
The system was originally booted using a Slackware bootdisk with 2.0.34
kernel (which is later than the kernel that was later compiled for the machine
[2.0.33]).

  Any suggestions?

System Outline
Celeron 266 Processor (yeah, yeah I know it's crap).
Pentium II 440BX motherboard
libc-5.4.44
XFree86 3.3.2.3
ELF Linux 2.0.33 with Pentium Pro processor option

I'm going to upgrade my kernel and binutils and see if that helps.

TIA

  Rich
