About the first error , you probably should leave assabet powered 
off for five minutes. Sometimes it takes
that much time for the capacitor to discharge. I face this problem 
pretty often. I leave it off for atleast
five minutes and then I can flash it.

   About the second problem, when you boot using blob, make sure you set 
the serial port speed to 115K
I think it is CTRL-A O E I if I remember right. Then switch to another 
console and uuencode zImage zImage >/dev/modem
or /dev/ttyS0 or whatever it is. Minicom will print lotsa .... and 
finally blob will tell you to switch back to
9600B, CTRL A O E E should do it. Repeat the same for RAMDISK as well.
