I'm trying to get a Assabet board (phase 5) to run a linux kernel; the
board has 32 MB DRAM and the problem happens with or without the daughter
board attached.

I'm using kernel 2.4.0-test2-1.2.3-2 from the hard hat linux people. Using
angelboot (Ver 1.10) to download. I've tried the Brutus ramdisk.gz and the
ramdisk_ks.gz from Wearablegroup.org people.

But neither of them work for me.

Initially I used the Brutus ramdisk getting the following output; Tux is on
the screen of the Assabet and the cursor is blinking but minicom is locked up.

------ last section of the output --------

RAMDISK driver initialized: 16 RAM disks of 8192K size 1024 blocksize
Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 6.31
ide: Assuming 50MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with idebus=xx
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
SA1100 serial driver version 1.3
ttyS0 on SA1100 UART1 (irq 15)
ttyS1 on SA1100 UART3 (irq 17)
ttyS2 on SA1100 UART2 (irq 16), using IRDA
UDA1341 audio driver initialized
Linux PCMCIA Card Services 3.1.11
   options: none
NetWinder Floating Point Emulator V0.95 (c) 1998-1999 Rebel.com
ds: no socket drivers loaded!
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem).
Freeing unused kernel memory: 64k init
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.

------------ end of output --------------

Now I tried copying the init command to a number of the alternate places
that it can reside. Same results. Seems to be mounting the ramdisk but .....

So then I tried using the ramdisk_ks.gz, and realised this one is probably
more useful to me although I'll be happy with either one going :-). But the
output got a bit further, till it crashed, Tux is once again on the screen.

------------ end of output ----------------------

I'm hoping that someone out there can tell me what it is that I'm doing
wrong. I imagine it is staring me in the face but I cannot see it.

I've been through the FAQ's on http://www.arm.linux.org.uk/,
where it suggested I email this group so here I am.

Sorry for the length.

Thanks in advance.

john
