It transpires that a bug, possibly in the compiler, has affected
libreadline, such that if it is compiled with /any/ optimisation (`-O')
setting at all, any application linked with it will tend to intermittently
crash with memory errors, similar to these:
kernel: ncftp: memory violation at pc=0x400df274, lr=0x400df270
(bad address=0x02029764, code 3)
I've taken the bad way out of this one, and for the time being, uploaded
a version compiled without optimisation, which replaces the current
version on my FTP space. If ncftp crashes regularly for you, try this:
ftp.inkvine.fluff.org:/pub/armlinux/people/chris/rpms/new/
