This is already possible. Soft-synth outputs to a sound card
(or better: to a ALSA dummy device). Multitrack app reads
from alsa loopback device and a set of input files and mixes these
to two outputs. I've tested the above setup with
SoundTracker+ALSA-0.5.x+ecasound-1.7.x combo.

Same here, already possible. Latencies will cause problems, 
but with a bit of tweaking, it can be made to work.
