So I think a common SVN/CVS repository for LADSPA plugins would be nice, if all authors would agree on that and would manage their code within that.

LV2 has been designed to make it possible to have cross platform, binary plugin downloads, but in LADSPA you're really dependent on the platforms package mechanism, be it DMGs, RPMs or DEBs.
