Maybe we can investigate this in 2 weeks at the LAC?
- The GUI scale seems to misbehave, the 'keyboard' widgets isn't scaled in the same way as the other widgets. Actually it seems to be one rescaling behind.
The default scale (font and knobs) is set by the host (Ardour Prefs > Size and Scale > GUI and Font scaling). As with host provided color theme, this only applies when the GUI is reopened, and does not affect already visible custom UIs.
in most x42 plugins, you can also right-click on a blank space somewhere and manually override UI font scale.
Re. the 'microtonal' one:- Is there a reason why the note offsets can't be set in the GUI and only in the automation ?
It is a feature from a 3rd party, and they did not want to write a GUI for it, and neither did I :)
You can also use mixer-strip inline controls in Ardour, or the generic UI.
- Would loading a SCALA file (i.e. having a fixed temperament) be a good alternative ?
.scl would be overkill, especially since you can have most 12 notes in the current autotuner.
I recently attended a panel on tuning systems, and most musicians dislike SCALA due its complexity and inability to quickly change scales.
There was a lot of 12TET bashing and "Give me 12 dials and easily accessible presets" (no deep menu dives).
On the upside, LV2 presets can be partial. So they can modify the scale but leave other settings alone.
