Maybe put the computer in the vocal booth, or build a machine closet. > virtually silent - only my hard drive is a problem now! It's a loop. Eliminating the noisiest thing just reveals the next noisiest thing, shortly after the euphoria of perceived silence wears off. I once refined my situation to the point of no detectable noise, but upon tuning my guitar I discovered that I could detect the beat frequency whenever a harmonic of a string was close to the fundamental frequency of a power amp fan that was quiet enough to not be noticed on its own. My current method is to use only a recorder that can be connected to extension cables and operated from a distance, such as a computer or dedicated hd recorder with a remote control (no laptops or integrated mixer/hd recorders), and stick it in a closet. No other gear with a fan or hd are allowed. Look into a kvm cable. Tom
