While I tend to agree that Linux needs to adapt to better handle things as trivial as a screen saver in order to give Linux deeper penetration into the Desktop OS Market. I also think your statement ties the survivability of Linux with its ability to take over the Desktop Market. I don't think we need Linux to do that in order to be able to keep using it ourselves. Without the users, programmers and developers that we are all a part of, Linux would not exist or be able to continue. So long as there are people interested in keeping it alive and being used (by using it) then it will be here. Hey, the Amiga still has a sizable user base, and they are "internet aware".
