Uncomment the "encrypt password" and the "password file =
/etc/smbpasswd" in the global settings. Then check the man page on
"smbpasswd"

There may be some more little picky things to fix, but I'll keep working
with you if you want. I just did this on my lan, so I've found out all
of my mistakes.
