I don't think that this is the explanation for the problem at hand, but, since
it's still an error, I'll point it out. No two entries in this file should have
the same name. By doing "nslookup <address>', e.g. "nslookup 206.105.172.2",
you can determine the correct names to fill in. 206.105.172.2 should be
dns.inetone.net, and 204.117.214.10 should be ns1.sprintlink.net.

This may be your problem, because "gethostbyname" uses the "hosts" entry in
"/etc/nsswitch.conf" in order to determine where to lookup host names. Try
adding the following line to this file:
hosts: files nis dns
